The Rio de Flag is the primary watercourse winding through Flagstaff, Arizona. Picture Canyon is a perennial reach fed by high quality effluent from an upstream water treatment plant. Noxious weeds invaded the site due to the soil disturbance from the past disturbance activities. The result was a significant narrowing of the riparian area and a rapid transit of the perennial stream flow, effectively reducing riparian and wetland habitat. The project restored channel meander and floodplain function, improved channel function, improved recreational aesthetic benefits and restored native vegetation to the site.
